
Michael spent eight years as a German police officer. He spent time as a member of undercover street crime and counter-terrorism units. In 1994 he was a silver medal recipient at the Karate Cup competition and received the Silver European Police Performance Award. In 1995 he was one of two members of a provincial Police Jiu-Jitsu team to represent his province at the National Championship. In 1999 he received a letter of recommendation and decoration for his performance and leadership on a multiple homicide case that lead to the successful apprehension of the suspect. During his time as a police officer Michael was involved in the instruction of several courses including Risk Management and Scene Assessment and the Prevention of Violence against Women. Michael came to Canada in 1999. In 2001 he was given a letter of decoration for acting as a liaison between the RCMP and German police in the apprehension of an internationally wanted criminal. He currently works as a Master Scuba Diver Trainer and is certified to instruct Emergency First Response courses including: Primary and Secondary Care for adults, children and infants, Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), Emergency Oxygen and Advanced Oxygen providers, Emergency on site Neurological Assessment, First Aid for Marine Life injuries, and Diving Emergency Management. Michael currently studies the Naiki-Ryu system under the instruction of Sensei Barclay and Soke Blondeau. He is also a certified Krav Maga specialist for Law Enforcement techniques as well as Gun and Knife Defense.
